Industrial Hoses

Industrial hoses as the name suggests are hoses used for industrial applications. These applications range from water transfer to hazardous chemical transfer. It is important to note that there are very many types of industrial hoses. The hoses are usually classified according to the purpose. There is a wide range of industrial hoses for various applications i.e. cleaning service, chemical service, general purpose, specialty service, steam service e.t.c. It is important to note that industrial hoses are manufactured using a wide range of compounds & reinforcement methods. This is because different hoses have different applications which require certain hose specifications. Below are some of the most common types of industrial hose according to purpose.

1. Air and multiple purpose industrial hoses
As the name suggests, these hoses are used for air and multiple purpose applications. The hoses are designed specifically with air and multipurpose capabilities i.e. they can serve just about any purpose alongside air applications. It is important to note that air and multiple purpose industrial hoses serve a variety of purposes ranging from light duty industrial applications to heavy construction applications. The most important thing is therefore choosing an air and multipurpose industrial hose with the right specifications.

2. Chemical service industrial hoses
These industrial hoses are specifically meant for chemical service applications as the name suggests. These includes handling hazardous or contaminated materials. Chemical service industrial hoses should therefore be selected carefully because of the sensitive nature of their job. The hoses are characterised by high visibility branding and coding to eliminate guess word during hose selection.

3. Cleaning service industrial hoses
These industrial hoses are usually used for general cleaning and sandblast applications. They are available in a wide range to serve specific cleaning service applications. They therefore have specifications that should be considered to select the right hose for specific applications.

4. Food service industry hoses
As the name suggests, the hoses are used in the food service industry. Because of the sensitive nature of food, these hoses are accompanied by critical application guides that have to be followed to eliminate cases of food contamination.

5. General purpose industry hoses
These hoses are used for a variety of purposes in industry applications. They are available in a very wide variety i.e. thermoplastic and thermoset hoses. The most common materials used to make general purpose industry hoses include; EPDM, PU, PVC and EVA. This is because the materials are ideal for most industry applications i.e. air, pesticide, water, chemical transfer e.t.c.

6. Petroleum service industry hoses
As the name suggests, these hoses are used in the petroleum industry. They are specifically designed to handle pressures associated with petroleum product transport. They also have unique specifications for ensuring safe transport of petroleum products because of their nature (highly flammable).

7. Specialty service industrial hoses
These industrial hoses are specifically designed to perform special applications in industry settings. It is important to note that some extremely hazardous chemicals/materials which require transportation don’t have readymade hoses available in the market to cater for transportation. In such instances, specialty hoses are designed to perform certain highly sensitive and critical applications. Because of the sensitive nature of application, specialty service industrial hoses are highly customized i.e. manufactured on request.

Conclusion
In summary, the above types of industrial hoses are the most common. Other types include; steam service industrial hoses, suction and discharge industrial hoses etc.
